Therapy requires self-confrontation and self-awareness to accurately see your strengths and limitations. It also requires courage to do the hard things necessary to make improvements and develop new habits. Therapy becomes a sacred place of discovery and healing.
I received my Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Utah in 1995. I started Family First Counseling in 1998 in Utah, which grew to be a leading agency in helping individuals, couples, and families overcome many complex problems. I sold this agency and moved to Dallas TX in 2010 to develop the Center for Marriage & Family Counseling Center.
My 25 years of experience combined with my education has prepared me with a skill set to help people heal complex problems and improve relationships. I specialize in marriage, addiction, trauma and helping people be happy and enjoy loving relationships. I have advanced training in helping couples with complex issues such as infidelity, problematic sexual behavior, and developing a more mature and connected loving relationship.
Other specialties include addiction recovery from sex, porn; secret acting-out behaviors as well as substance abuse issues; trauma healing from abuse, betrayal, loss, rejection, neglect and abandonment. Mental health treatment for depression, anxiety, and other general mental health issues. Clients commonly report: Shane is safe, competent, and helped me find solutions.
My interests outside of work include date nights with my wife, outings with my family, and relaxing with a good book or movie. I volunteer often in my church and community. I enjoy golfing, photography, technology gadgets and the great outdoors.
