Shane Adamson

I received my BS degree in Family Science from Brigham Young University in 1993 and my Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Utah in 1995. I started Family First Counseling in 1998 in Utah, which grew to be a leading agency in helping individuals, couples and families overcome many complex problems. I sold this agency and moved to Dallas TX to start LifeSTAR a specialized treatment program for pornography and sexual addiction issues.

I care deeply about people. I believe that people are innately good. Sometimes good people struggle with very complex personal or relationship problems. My 18 years of experience combined with my education has prepared me with a skill set to help people heal complex problems and improve relationships. I specialize in marriage, addiction, and helping people be happy and enjoy loving relationships. I seek to help clients find meaning and purpose in their life. I have learned that if I can help clients find their talents and their unique calling in life this provides peace and motivation. Therapy becomes a sacred place of discovery and healing.

My specialties include: helping couples create loving and connected marriages, overcoming addiction to sex, to online pornography websites and intimacy issues, and healing from trauma, and helping individuals to overcome complex personal problems. I also have experience in treating depression, anxiety, and general mental health issues. At the end of therapy, most clients report being satisfied with their counseling experience.

My interests outside of work include: date nights with my wife, outings with my family, and relaxing with a good book or movie. I volunteer often in my church and community. I enjoy golfing, photography, technology gadgets and the great outdoors.

Favorite quote: “Owning our story and loving ourselves through the process is the bravest thing we will ever do.” – Brene Brown
One thing on my Bucket List: Travel Europe.
Show & tell item: I would do magic or tell jokes because I love to entertain and make people laugh.
Biggest fear: Drowning or falling off a high place to my death.
Coolest place I have traveled: I lived in Fukuoka Japan for 2 years serving a mission for my church. It took about 7 months for me learn the language. I came to love Japanese people, culture, and cuisine. Sushi rocks!
Greatest achievement: Helping 10 boy scouts reach the rank of Eagle Scout.
My favorite thing to do on a weekend: 50% of my weekends I slow down and watch a movie. Other 50% I like to get out—like a date with Wendy or a mini family adventure.
