Will Alexander
Greetings. My name is Will Alexander. Personally, I struggle with these website biographies because I can tell you so much about my education, my credentials, my counseling style, etc. without getting to the deeper questions of why would I be a good fit for you. Although being a licensed counselor with solid training and education is important, I have found that most of my clients want to know about what I can do for them and how to make that process happen. For me, becoming a counselor came from many painful life experiences that, after going through them and coming out the other side, I sensed could be useful in guiding others through similar issues.
It started in my teenage years. Maybe it was my need to create my own space but, as a result of some bad decisions I made in my high school years I found myself in a rehab facility in Minnesota as a young man..When I finally came to the end of myself in my life, it was a time and place of deep lonliness, combined with fears, depression, and addiction related realities. Then I accepted help from others to begin the process of recovering who the real me happened to be.
I’m no stranger to hard work. I grew up in the Dallas area and spent some of that time on a ranch north of McKinney where I learned how much those heavy square bales of hay actually weighed. The helping profession came pretty naturally to me. My Dad was a medical doctor and my mom was a psychologist, so education and discipline were high on the list of family values at our house. Once I completed treatment successfully, I began my college career and obtained a Masters degree. Since then I’ve added several other professional designations including, LPC-S, CEAP, CSAT, and LCDC.
I believe that the biggest determinant of success in the counselor-client relationship is the degree to which the I can facilitate a strong relationship of trust between you and myself. I want to connect with you and help you develop your game-plan. I want to help you get what you want and develop as a person. So, to that end, I’m going to ask you at the end of each of our sessions how we’re doing and I want you to tell me what you really think so that this is a win-win situation for both of us.
It’s no coincidence that you’re here today, whether you’re reading this on my website or standing in front of me. I believe that. You want something and I can help you get it. So, from here on out it’s quite simple. We’re going to create a plan, move some dirt to get to the gold, and I’m going to help you do it.
I look forward to going through the journey of discovering and uncovering what your strengths, gifts, blocks and obstacles are in order to free you for the life of happiness that you are designed to have.
